This apprenticeship certificate program is designed to provide students with the skills and theory required to set up, operate, monitor, correct, and improve the processes and automation used in the manufacture of high-technology integrated circuits and modules.
The program fulfills the in-school requirements of the Microelectronics Manufacturer apprenticeship and provides an excellent foundation for subsequent programs leading to technician and technology diplomas in advanced manufacturing.
There are three phases of the in-school portion of the microelectronics manufacturer program totalling 304 hours. Each phase includes courses in business-related skills, such as, communications, teamwork, mathematics, and science. In addition, specific topics which complement the workplace training component of the apprenticeship are covered including safety, process set up, control, monitoring, and process improvement. To address the needs of today's advanced manufacturing employee, students also gain a general understanding of electronic products, components, and the business side of manufacturing.
