This apprenticeship program serves as the basic level in-class portion for two trades: Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic. The curriculum is based on skills and competencies common to these related occupations.
During the eight-week level, students study subjects including trade practices, mechanical cooling cycle fundamentals and components, electrical fundamentals, installation and start up procedures, and oxyacetylene welding. Seventy percent of class time is spent in theory and 30 percent learning practical, hands-on skills in the College's shops.
