This two-year Ontario College Diploma program prepares students to work in various areas of accounting including financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, and auditing. The curriculum is designed to broaden the business background of students and to expand their theoretical knowledge of economics, law, finance, and statistics. Students are also exposed to a number of accounting and business computer software packages.

The program of study focuses on student-centered learning while working in a technology-enhanced environment. Students solve accounting problems using the laptop computer in the classroom which enhances the collaborative learning environment.

This program is part of the mobile computing (laptop) initiative at Algonquin College which better prepares students for an increasingly technology-oriented workplace. In the fourth level, qualified students can participate in an optional work placement which provides practical, on-the-job experience in the accounting departments of Ottawa-based businesses and in the public and private sectors.

Depending upon academic achievement, graduates may be granted some credits toward the requirements of the Certified General Accountants (CGA) Association program of professional studies.
