ACCESSIBLE TAXICAB TRAINING

Successful completion of Accessible Taxicab Training is mandatory for a taxi driver's licence and employment in the taxi industry. The Accessible Taxicab Training course encompasses skills necessary to operate an accessible taxicab. This course has been designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet the diverse needs of passengers with disabilities and provide professional service to all special needs clients. (Note: This course is a requirement for all new taxi drivers. It is also offered as a stand alone course for currently licensed Ottawa taxi drivers wishing to operate an accessible taxi or acquire an accessible taxi plate).

AIR BRAKE ENDORSEMENT TRAINING FOR DRIVERS
Course:MVM5603

The objective of this course is to ensure drivers attain the knowledge necessary to operate air brake systems safely and to be able to detect faults in these systems. Students learn how the system works, how to use it, what happens when it is not working properly, and how to identify when it may not be working properly. Upon completion of this course, students are issued Ministry of Transportation (MTO) documentation that they must present to a local MTO office within a six-month time period which enables them to have the Z endorsement added to their current class of licence. NOTE: No further MTO testing is required until the driver's five year renewal time is due.

This course concentrates on 2D design for print incorporating design knowledge learned to date and using the following software programs in a Mac environment: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Students choose a client from a selection of three, are supplied with a client profile and create artwork for print. Each design stage is monitored through concepts and sketch approval, files preparation, and concludes with a final presentation. Upon completion of this course, students design with consistency, project presentation, and software integration. Emphasis is on meeting deadlines and learning how to problem solve on the computer.
