A WEEK AMONG THE ANISHINABE: TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, NATURE AND CONTEMPORARY LIFE

Natural law provides every race, nation, animal, culture, and identity the right to exist. With this comes a responsibility to respect the environment. In order to live in any ecological setting, dependence on resources needs to be respected in a way that is harmonious with the environment. Experience life on the land and begin to learn the traditional educational values of a family base within the boreal forest of Reserve Faunique de la Verendrye, about 230 km north of Ottawa. Students spend a week at Kokomville Academy in the heart of the Anishinabe First Nation, and begin to develop their own connection with and understanding of nature while, at the same time, gain an awareness of the connections that exist between aboriginal philosophies and teachings and the contemporary world of business and science. Students live in self-made shelters, gather edibles and eat from the land, and participate in a variety of community life activities.

ADVANCED CHIVALROUS SWORDHANDLING

Continue to build upon the swordsmanship fundamentals through advanced training methodologies, safe contact sparring, and shieldwall formation drills utilizing the Bastard Sword and Heater Shield. There is extensive drilling in solo, partner, and mass teamwork tactics. Come study and re-enact the underlying principles in human biomechanics as they apply to swordsmanship such as dynamic movement, fencing measures (distance and timing), and strategy. This workshop is an ideal venue for those wishing to truly internalize the core fundamentals and perhaps train more robustly in true armour. Chainmaille shirts, shields and helms will be on hand. Attendees are encouraged and given suggestions on how to obtain their own armours and practice arms. Respect, courtesy, and self control are strict requirements for the attendee.

The objective of this course is to ensure drivers attain the knowledge necessary to operate air brake systems safely and to be able to detect faults in these systems. BASICS OF MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE REPAIR

This course is designed in conjunction with the requirements of the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario's (MTO) graduated licensing system. It meets and exceeds MTO requirements to have motorcycle riders with an M2-class licence upgrade their status to an M-class licensed motorcycle rider by refreshing low- and higher-speed skills, vehicle control, driver inputs and riding techniques. Full and safe theoretical and on-road operation of the motorcycle prepares you to successfully complete the M2 exit road test which is included in the course. All students must provide their own motorcycle, DOT helmet, heavy jacket, gloves, jeans and leather footwear that covers the ankles, and must come prepared to ride Friday evening. Requirement(s): Students must have had an M2 licence for a minimum of 18 months.

XHTML AND CSS INTRO

This hands-on course takes students through the different components of the XHTML language - starting with the very basics of tags, elements, and attributes. Students learn how to create hyperlinks and lists, import graphics and create tables using XHTML, as well as format text, incorporate colours, and design the page layout using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The differences of basic HTML and XHTML are also discussed. Note: Basic knowledge of HTML recommended, but not essential.
