College Eligibility
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants
with an OSSD showing senior English and/or Mathematics courses at
the Basic Level, Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine
their eligibility for admission; or
OR
Mature Student status (19 years of age or over and without a
high school diploma) eligibility may be determined by academic achievement
testing for which a fee of $30.00 will be charged.
Program Eligibility
English, Grade 12 (ENG4C or equivalent, is required).
Mathematics, Grade 12 (MAP4C or a mathematics with a similar
content, is required).
Biology, Grade 11 (SBI3C or equivalent, is required).
Chemistry, Grade 12 (SCH4C or equivalent, is required).
Current CPR (Basic Rescuer, Level "C")
Current Standard First Aid
During the course of their program,
students will be required to successfully complete the Firefighter
Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT), or equivalent. Information
for this requirement will be provided to applicants as part
of the orientation to the program.
Should the number of qualified
applicants exceed the number of available places, applicants
will be selected on the basis of
their proficiency in English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry.
Note: Agencies that allow the College access for clinical/field
placements may require students in this program to have a clear
police record check.
To be eligible to participate in
clinical/field placements, you must submit proof of a clear
police records check
to the
Program
Department prior to the beginning of classes.
If you have
been convicted of an offense under the criminal code for
which you have not been pardoned, you may be unable
to participate
in clinical/field placements. Successful completion of
a clinical/field placement is a requirement for graduation.
If you register in the program and
have a criminal record for which you have not received a pardon,
you must meet
with the
Departmental Chair prior to the first day of classes.
It is your responsibility to obtain this police records
check from your local Police Department and to pay for
any associated
costs.
