Programs at Algonquin College are delivered using a variety of instruction modes. Courses may be offered in the classroom or lab, entirely on-line, or in a hybrid mode which combines classroom sessions with on-line learning activities. Upon registration, each full-time student is provided an Algonquin e-mail account which is used to communicate important information about program or course events.

Courses in the program are grouped into three areas:
Courses in the program are grouped into three areas:
  • Core requirements - 20 courses
  • Major Requirements - 10 courses
  • Electives - 3 courses

In the first three levels of study, emphasis is placed on core requirements designed to provide students with a sound understanding of the different business disciplines and to develop analytical and communication skills for decision-making. In the fourth level, students begin to study courses from their chosen area of specialization. Students also complete outstanding core course requirements. The specialization in the fourth is continued throughout the fifth and sixth levels (third year).

In addition, students may choose from a wide range of electives. These electives are designed not only to complement their specialized studies, but also to further develop the students’ communication and analytical skills, and to broaden their understanding of the economic, political and social environment.

Normal Term Pattern
