MICROCOMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Overview

With the tremendous increase in the number of microcomputers being used in all aspects of business and industry, many organizations have been setting up Information Centres and Help Desks. These teams employ microcomputer specialists to assist users with the acquisition, installation, and use of microcomputer hardware and software.

Graduates of this program are able to assist with spreadsheet applications, database applications, word processing applications, operating systems, networking and data communications. In addition, the knowledge gained in the business portion of the program will help graduates progress to greater responsibility within an organization.

A minimum grade of C for each Information System course is required.

Students must have the required prerequisite before taking any course in this program.

Transfer of Academic Credit (Exemption)
If you possess qualifications beyond the entry level of your program (such as successful completion of another college, university or professional association course), you may be eligible for a Transfer of Credit (or exemption) from an individual course. For information or to apply for a Transfer of Credit, please contact the Registrar's Office at (613) 727-9797.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)

For more information, please contact the PLA Coordinator at (613) 727-4723 ext. 7027.
