Students will acquire a good understanding of Virtual Private Networks (VPN). Topics include an overview of VPN, the protocols, technologies and products used in a VPN solution, security solutions, architectures and configurations to consider when planning a VPN, how encryption is used to enable information privacy, how remote users and servers are authenticated with digital certificates and how tunnelling protocols allow VPNs to be built over IP based networks, including the Internet.

Prerequisite: CST6500 Internetworking Fundamentals
