This course continues the process begun in Psychology I and in Canadian Justice System and Legislation with an emphasis on major areas of psychology relevant to Correctional Workers, including motivation, stress and health, personality, abnormality and therapy. The emphasis on applications to everyday situations will continue as will the encouragement of the students critical thinking capabilities. This course will also focus on the mentally disordered offender. Students will examine the current strategies for the care and custody of those found unfit to stand trial and not criminally responsible due to mental disorder, as well as for sentenced offenders with mental health problems. |
