Job Description  
Reporting to the Academic Chair of the Mechanical & Transportation Technology department, the Budget Officer is responsible for the preparation and monitoring/analysis of the department budget, administration of part-time payroll, course loading, preparation and tracking of Faculty Standard Workload Form (SWF) and creation and monitoring of purchase requisitions. The Budget Officer provides budgetary services to the Chair and prepares financial and operational reports to meet the information needs of the Chair, Dean of Faculty of Technology and Trades, and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications  
  • A three year Diploma in Business Administration, or equivalent combination of education and business experience;
  • Minimum 3 years related practical experience preferably in a college environment with knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting;
  • Demonstrated skill in using Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word;
  • Demonstrated effective organization, time management, and planning skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills to deal with College employees of all levels and outside clients.
  • Knowledge of Algonquin College Information systems such as GeneSIS, HRIS, Peoplesoft, & BUS operating systems is an asset;
