Job Description  

The Mobile and Social Media Management program requires a part-time professor who has experience with podcast development and deployment. The candidate should be able to professionally format, and have knowledge of hosting, video and audio podcasts, which may include host interviews, titles, video intros, and theme and/or background music.

Under the direction of the Chair, Media Studies, the Professor is responsible for facilitating and guiding learning and providing an effective learning environment for all students. The professional responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of regularly scheduled term instruction to a mix of online and in-class students, learning both synchronously and asynchronously *
  • Ensuring student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques
  • Uploading and updating learning materials using the Blackboard learning management system (LMS)
  • Course delivery using traditional in-class practices as well as utilizing various online tools such as Blackboard Collaborate,, Skype, and Google Hangout.
  • Providing online and in-class student learning support.
  • Providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies
  •  Evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses
  • The development and creation of a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students
* All classes are delivered to in-class and online students concurrently. As well, students have the option of learning asynchronously. Lessons must therefore support online, in-class, and asynchronous learning.

Required Qualifications  
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related area of study;
  • Four years of practical industry experience;
  • Familiarity with the recording process and post-production workflow, including sound and video compression, uploading to, and use of, various hosting services, and RSS feeds;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of various online learning technologies would be considered an asset;
  • Highly effective communication, presentation and organizational skills.
