Job Description  
This is a key position in the Office of Applied Research and Innovation (ARI) reporting to the Director, Applied Research and Innovation. The position is strongly focused on customer service in several areas through the provision of administrative support to Office staff, faculty, students, clients and other College supporters. As a key point of contact for people’s interactions with the Office, the incumbent plays an important role in providing a welcoming, customer-centric experience. The position’s duties include Office Administration, Human Resources Administration, Purchasing, Preparing Office Policies and Procedures, Event Planning coordination and Travel Planning in support of the College’s Applied Research Program. The incumbent provides guidance to Office Staff and students.

Required Qualifications  
  • A minimum of a two (2) year diploma in Business, Office Administration, and/or Event Management or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in an office environment providing administrative support to management, guidance to junior staff and excellent customer service to clients; planning, coordinating and executing small and large events.
  • Strong knowledge of New Employee Orientation and sign-up processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working with HRIS.
  • Working knowledge of College’s purchasing process and Peoplesoft.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task.
  • Strong customer service skills and cheerful disposition.
  • Ability to participate in trade shows and industry events both on and offsite.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of agencies and programs that fund college applied research an asset.
  • Experience in providing administrative support to senior management in business or industry, and in an academic setting an asset.
