Job Description  

As a Business Analyst reporting to the Project Management Office (PMO) in the Information Technology Services (ITS) department, the incumbent is to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of project stakeholders, be they customers or end users. This includes interviewing stakeholders and gathering and compiling user requirements to convey to development teams. The Business Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the development process, and to ensure that project deliverables are met according to specifications.

The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in in ensuring an understanding of business requirements by:

  • Conducting interview to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases scenarios and other methods.
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis on project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria and metrics.
  • Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements.
  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.
  • Develop and utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications.

Required Qualifications  
  • A minimum of a four (4) year undergraduate University Degree in Computer Science or Business Information Systems, or an equivalent College diploma, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and practice experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ of related work experience including: experience with business analysis and technical requirements analysis.
  • Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems or products.
  • Experience with elicitation, modelling, verification and methodology development.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development to maintain currency.
