Salary Range: Payband 9 - $60,243 to $75,304 per annum, based on a 36.25 hour work week. The College also offers a complete range of fringe benefits.

Job Description  

The Safety Officer is accountable for the day-to-day coordination, operation and delivery of occupational health & safety training and services in support of the College Occupational Health & Safety Management System. (OHSMS).

In the pursuit of a safe and healthy learning and working environment, the Safety Officer deals at an operational level, providing training, coordination and facilitation services and direct services support within all levels of the organization and the College community in matters of occupational health & safety.

Required Qualifications  
  • A minimum of a two (2) year Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or other professional occupational health/safety designation
  • Additional courses or programs of study relation to Occupational Health and Safety
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Strong communication, negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent report/business writing skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint)
  • Prior experience technical writing of policy / procedure / program development
  • Experience in a large, institutional workplace with unionized workforce
  • Previous accident investigation and related management systems experience
  • Experience and technical knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training role
  • Superior ability to work in a consultative role with middle management and other workplace parties
