Salary Range: Payband J - $34.14-$39.58 per hour ($64,601 to $74,895 per annum based on a 36.25 hour work week). The College also offers a comprehensive range of fringe benefits.

Job Description  

Reporting to the Manager of Community Employment Services, the incumbent is responsible for assisting unemployed persons prepare to enter or re-enter the labour market by delivering service delivery responses that meet the unique needs of the individual.

The incumbent provides employment and career counselling support and develops customized return-to-work strategies that include job search, job matching and placement, and job retention assistance and follow up with clients of all ages. The incumbent maintains effective working relationships with community agencies and employers to support clients and has a broad understanding of social services, government training programs, labour market trends and educational opportunities available.

Required Qualifications  
  • A two (2) year College Diploma in Career Practitioner or Social Sciences with a focus on employment counseling
  • A minimum of five (5) years combined experience working as an employment counselor and job developer with MTCU programming
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed monthly intake and exit outcome targets
  • Highly effective organizational and case-file management skills
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Solid marketing, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Proven recruitment and selection/assessment skills
  • Exceptional ability to work with high performing teams
  • Experience working with Employment Ontario programs and managing deliverables in a continuous improvement environment
  • Solid working knowledge of workplace legislation and health and safety laws
  • Experience working with a variety of software applications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of labour market trends, employment conditions and community agencies
  • Prior experience working with employers as a third party liaison
