Job Description  

As a strategic contributor to college-wide planning and policy development, the Registrar manages full-time and part-time staff members, who in turn serve a student population of 16,000 full-time and 25,000 part-time registrants.

The Registrar interprets and administers academic and administrative policy in an equitable and consistent manner; participates in strategic enrolment planning at the college level; directs admissions, scheduling, fees assessment and collection, registration, student records and program/course records management for all academic activity (day and evening); directs client services including the delivery of Contact Centre, online and in-person services for the purposes of providing program, course and general information; is accountable for the timely and accurate reporting of application and registration information to the College community and to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities; and is responsible for the integrity of the annual enrolment audit, maximizing funding opportunities and representing the College regarding the enrolment audit to the external auditors.

In addition, the Registrar has overall responsibility for the effective and efficient administration of Financial Aid operations and services including the delivery of financial assistance in compliance with Ministry requirements and all applicable legislation.

The Registrar is responsible for the certification of graduates and for the planning, organization and execution of the annual Convocation Ceremonies (Spring and Fall).

As Director of the Department serving as the client’s first point-of-contact with the College, the Registrar is responsible for the initial formation of the client’s relationship with the College.


Required Qualifications  
  • Minimum four (4) year Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of nine (9) years related experience in increasingly responsible roles, including experience at the senior management level
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience with complex information systems, and the responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the systems and outcomes
  • Proven ability to develop, manage and refine internal business processes
  • Outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to foster high performing and client service oriented teams
  • Experience managing personnel in a unionized and non-unionized environment
  • Excellent client service skills; diplomacy and sound judgment
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability, employing consultation and consensus building, as appropriate
