Job Description  

Reporting to the Director, the incumbent fulfills multiple responsibilities in the International Education Centre by providing student advisory services to International students, by providing marketing and support services to partnership, project and student recruitment managers and by providing support services to students, faculty and staff seeking overseas work experiences.

He/she monitors International students’ progress and plans strategies to help students succeed. He/she offers support services to make students feel welcome and supports students to succeed in their stay and studies at Algonquin College and adapt to Canadian culture.

He/she is responsible for aiding in the development of effective communication strategies and other tools required for student recruitment and project and partnership development.

He/she promotes work experiences overseas, orientates students participating in work experiences overseas and follows-up with students upon their return. He/she provides support services to faculty and staff seeking overseas work experiences.

Required Qualifications  
  • Minimum of a three (3) year college diploma
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the Ontario College System, with one year of experience working with international students or with an international department
  • Experience in advising International students on personal and academic matters
  • Experience in designing and delivering orientations, workshops and presentations to diverse audiences—student, academic, staff and external
  • Experience in developing student success and retention strategies, would be a preferred qualification
  • Public relations and marketing experience, would be a preferred qualification
  • Experience in Word, Excel, WordPress and other publishing software, would be a preferred qualification
  • Multi-media skills, would be considered an asset
