Job Description  

Under the direction of the Chair, Information and Communications Technology, the Part-time Professor is responsible for facilitating and guiding learning and providing an effective learning environment for all students. The professional responsibilities include the teaching of assigned courses, plus:

  • delivery of regularly scheduled instruction in the Fall term
  • providing a learning environment which makes effective use of available resources including educational technologies and the College approved Learning Management System
  • evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student’s work within assigned courses
  • the development and creation of a learning environment that is conducive to success for all students

Required Qualifications  
  • A Bachelor’s degree Information Systems/Technology or a related field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a college setting
  • Minimum five (5) years practical experience related to the field of study
  • Experience designing and installing enterprise grade Wi-Fi networks:
    • 802.11 protocol suite;
    • Wi-Fi security;
    • RF engineering and antenna design for Wi-Fi networks;
    • Design and implementation of IP networks; and
    • Hands-on experience with Aruba Networks Wi-Fi controllers
  • Wi-Fi certification in CWNA, ACMA (Aruba), CCNA-W (Cisco), would be considered a preferred certification
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Wi-Fi controllers and current CCNA, would be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated skill in Algonquin College’s preferred teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document:
