As a technician, the incumbent is responsible for completing work requests submitted by a range of client types, receiving and resolving critical escalations, and sharing technologies and ideas to create efficiencies. They periodically meet with vendors to evaluate products and services to determine if they are of beneficial use in the academic environment.
The incumbent must be well practiced in supporting hardware, software (firmware/BIOS, Operating System and end-users applications) and networking (both wired and wireless) on a multitude of changing device types including Microsoft Windows, Linux and Apple OSX desktops & laptops, smartphones, tablets and e-classroom equipment. They are also one of the department’s equipment coordinators, assigning and tracking assets as they are deployed throughout the College.
The incumbent administers the software licensing server which provides access to software used by all Electronics/Electro-Mechanical Studies labs for the delivery of software, programs, and services to students. Provides system administration services and software support for the Linux lab for Computer Studies. Implements processes and procedures to attain stable and reliable lab workstations. |
