Job Description
|
|
The Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence (Construction Trades and Building Systems; Architecture, Civil and Building Science departments) requires a Technician to provide technical assistance and support to faculty and students in its Electrical Engineering Technician/Technology, Powerline Technician and Construction and Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship programs.
Your ability to work independently but still within a team, your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, your excellent organizational skills combined with your technical ability in all of the above areas will mean success in this position. These skills and abilities are essential as the incumbent must be able to effectively deal with faculty from multiple programs, each with different requirements and challenges. The incumbent must be willing and capable of learning new skills and technologies. | |

Required Qualifications
|
- A Certificate of Qualification as an Electrician (Construction and Maintenance, Industrial) and/or a three (3) year Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma
- Five (5) years of relevant practical experience (e.g. operation, maintenance and calibration and on the spot troubleshooting of electrical and electronic equipment and machinery, use of measuring devices used in construction electronics and electrical engineering, testing and maintenance of PLCs, hardware and software, pneumatic equipment, Ethernet, Modbus, networks etc.)
- Superior troubleshooting skills with electrical equipment
- Ability to develop and maintain an inventory system and predictive maintenance schedule
- Ability to work independently with little supervision but within a team environment
- Excellent written communication, verbal communication, interpersonal skills, organizational skills and demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to change
- Demonstrated competence using computer applications (e.g. AutoCAD; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Email)
