Salary Range: Payband F - $24.91-$28.88 per hour ($47,136 to $54,648 per annum based on a 36.25 hour work week). The College also offers a comprehensive range of fringe benefits.

Job Description  

Reporting to the Manager of the Learning Resource Centre, the Peer Tutoring Officer is responsible for the effective planning, coordination and daily operations of the Peer Tutoring Centre and Academic Skills Centre.

The incumbent plans and delivers a wide range of direct services for at risk students requesting tutoring support which includes overseeing the client service kiosk for all scheduled client service hours; either by self, a replacement, or a student employee. The officer completes initial intake assessments with students and is responsible for recruiting, selecting and training. Administrative duties include payroll, reporting and maintaining a welcoming and approachable environment.

The incumbent is also responsible for tracking and forecasting service delivery patterns and creating new program initiatives to respond to the changing needs of students and the strategic directives of the college.

Required Qualifications  
  • Two (2) year Business or Human Resources diploma, or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience working with students and faculty in an administrative educational environment
  • Demonstrated skills of working with multi-cultural issues
  • Proven abilities of working in a confidentiality sensitive setting with demonstrated competence to work independently
  • Demonstrated strong presentation skills
  • Proven organizational and administration skills
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Flexible schedule; including the ability to work some evenings and weekends
