Job Description  

Reporting to the Director, College Ancillary Services and working as a member of the Ancillary Services management team, the Business Administrator is responsible for supporting the Director through the development of multi-year operating and capital budgets, providing analysis for strategic decision making and reporting to College Budgets.

This position ensures all business process and redesign initiatives are executed following the continuously changing and demanding requirements of the clients of Ancillary Services. The incumbent provides operational direction to relevant department staff responsible for the financial administration of the Ancillary business units: Retail Services, Food Services, Residence Services, Parking Services, Conference Services and The Print Shop.

Required Qualifications  
  • Three year Post-secondary Business Administration Diploma/Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business administration and have completed an accounting designation/certification (CA, CMA, or CGA).
  • Seven years experience, which should include at least two years experience working in a retail environment or in a business environment related to retail/food services and at least one other business unit within Ancillary Services.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply General Business principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with large organization financial, budget and accounting systems.
  • Ability to understand and apply internal control standards in a large organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of College operations on a daily basis; must be able to work with colleagues and individuals who are tasked with financial and administrative responsibilities to create a consistent approach to services and reports.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Must work well in a high stress environment.
